Drunk driver arrested for abandoning accident scene

A 51-year-old man in Paphos was arrested on Tuesday for hitting another car, abandoning the scene of an accident and drunk driving, police said.

According to authorities, the 51-year-old drove into a car being driven by a 60-year-old woman near the Apostolos Pavlos roundabout at 1:40pm.

He left the scene and drove home, where police found him shortly afterwards.

During questioning the man allegedly admitted to driving the vehicle.

Police then breathalysed him, which tested positive, while a blood test later his blood-alcohol level at 126μg instead of the allowed 22.

He was arrested.
