Coronavirus: Police carry out 1,000 checks, book 21 for violating measures

Police said Wednesday they carried out around 1,000 checks in the past 24 hours and reported four businesses and 17 individuals caught violating measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Officers checked 947 businesses and individuals 252 in Nicosia, 110 in Limassol, 189 in Larnaca, 106 in Paphos, 196 in the Famagusta district and 60 in the area around Morphou.

They booked four premises and 17 individuals in total. Most of the offences concerned failure to wear protective face masks.

Three individuals were booked in Nicosia, one in Limassol, three in Larnaca, three in Paphos, five in Famagusta and two in Morphou.

The four premises are located in Larnaca and in Paphos.
