Arrest after 1.2kg cannabis found in car

More than a kilo of cannabis was found and confiscated by police in Nicosia on Wednesday evening while a 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case.

At around 8.30pm, officers stopped a car driven by the suspect, a Nicosia resident, on the road to Ayia Marina Xyliatou.

During a search they found 1.2kg of cannabis in the vehicle.

His house was searched a little later and another 150 grammes of the drug was found and seized.

The man was arrested to facilitate further investigations.
