Officer fired warning shot during arrest in Limassol

A 22-year-old man was arrested late Monday in Limassol after being caught with a group of others spray painting slogans on a fence and shop window.

Officers who were on patrol came across three people using the spray paint on Anexartisias Street. They fled when they spotted the police.

One, the 22-year-old was caught but then 20 people with their faces covered appeared on the scene, threatening the officer. Fearing for his safety, the policeman fired a warning shot into the air and the crowd scattered.

Police are looking for the other two people who were with the suspect who was arrested for malicious damage.
