A minute with Natasha Theodotou Co-owner of thecollective vintage shop

Minute

Where do you live?
I live in Old Strovolos with my partner and three boys (that’s what I call my cats).

What did you have for breakfast?
The yummiest tachinopitta that I get sometimes from the guy who goes around my shop neighbourhood in the morning selling pastries from his mobile bakery

Describe your perfect day
Ideally it would involve exploring a city/country that I’ve never been to before. Either way my idea of perfection is quite simple – late wake up (I am not a morning person!), late breakfast with friends & cocktails, rummaging through vintage markets & thrift shops followed by a romantic dinner & wine with my partner and after dinner drinks & dancing on a rooftop with a view!

Best book ever read?
I’m not a book person at all! But I love research, especially anything that has to do with sustainability and the impact of mass consumerism on the planet. I subscribe to an amazing magazine called Ethical Consumer which has drastically changed my views on absolutely everything.

Best childhood memory?
Travelling the world with my mum; she used to work in the travel industry and took us with her almost everywhere she went so my sister and I were very fortunate to have been exposed from a very early age to so many different cultures, sights, tastes, etc.

What is always in your fridge?
Ground coffee, something alcoholic, something sweet, something savoury and probiotics… I try to cover all bases at all times!

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Funnily enough I only have radio in my car at the moment but it has led me to really appreciate the Rik Classic station so I alternate between the classical and jazz hours which suits me just fine because I love both.

What’s your spirit animal?
Would have to be a lion – the hair says it all

What are you most proud of?
Overcoming several traumatic experiences in my life and coming out stronger at the other end

What movie scene has really stayed with you?
SO many… But this one is an ode to my best friend – the closing scene of The First Wives Club where Bette Midler, Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn sing You Don’t Own Me because we sing it to each other all the time in memory of that movie 🙂

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
My mum… I miss her every day

If you could time travel when/where would you go?
The roaring 20s for sure… I’d be dancing in my flapper dress and drinking champagne all day 🙂

What is your greatest fear?
Losing someone I love

What would you say to your 18-year-old self?
Don’t envy your peers for having their sh*t figured out. You will find your purpose and at the most unlikely place and time

Name the one thing that would stop you dating someone
Lack of humour… laughter is medicine

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
If the world is ending there is nothing left to do than to spend it with my closest friends and family to reminisce on all the good times… I would simply want to give love and feel love in my last moments on earth, our relationships are really all we have at the end of the day
