Crowne Plaza Limassol Wins Business Hotel of the Year at Cyprus Tourism Awards

On Wednesday 23 September 2020, the 2nd Annual Cyprus Tourism Awards took place at Lemon Park in Nicosia. Crowne Plaza Limassol received the Business And/Or City Hotel bronze award with their application titled «Crowne Plaza Limassol: an award-winning business hotel on the beach», and was the only hotel to be awarded in the specific category.

Michalis Prodromou and Nadia Georgiou, two rising stars from the hotel’s management team, attended the awards ceremony and accepted the coveted award on behalf of the Churchill Hotel Management Ltd. which owns and operates the Crowne Plaza Limassol hotel.

The Cyprus Tourism Awards are organised by Boussias Communications Cyprus with the support of DIAS Media Group, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the Association of Cyprus Tourist Enterprises (ACTE), the Cyprus Hotel Association (CHA) and the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA). Launched in 2019, the Cyprus Tourism Awards were created to celebrate Cyprus tourism, and are currently the only awards of their kind on the island.

All Cyprus tourism stakeholders are invited to submit their applications, and a select panel of business leaders and industry experts are chosen to judge the applications with a points-based system and select the winners. The 2020 Panel was comprised of 25 members including Christos Patsalides, Former Minister of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, Theodore S. Benetatos, CEO & Academic Dean, International Management Institute Switzerland and Achilleas C. Dorotheou, Executive General Director of Costa Navarino Resort in Greece.

Following the awards ceremony, Rebecca Pierides, Director at Churchill Hotel Management, said: “2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for us all, and the global travel and tourism industry has been especially hard-hit by the pandemic.

We are so incredibly proud of the Crowne Plaza Limassol team for the resilience, adaptability and commitment they have shown during this unprecedented crisis, rising to the challenge of difficult working conditions and a constantly evolving situation, to continue delivering true hospitality to all our valued guests and members. Building on last year’s international success of being named IHG’s Crowne Plaza Hotel of the Year in Southern Europe, it is incredibly heartening for the team to win best Business And/Or City Hotel at the Cyprus Tourism Awards this year.

We are also incredibly proud of the work we have done over the last few years to upgrade the hotel’s facilities including the full-scale renovation of our conference facilities in 2018 to offer over 450m² of state-of-the-art sea view meetings and events space, as well as the renovation and extension of all our indoor leisure facilities (indoor pool, fitness centre, steam room, sauna, naturist area and treatment rooms), which were completed in March 2020. Our management company intends to continue our strategic investment in the Crowne Plaza Limassol hotel, so that we can go on offering our guests facilities and services which are best in class, and which can support our business travellers on their journey to success.”
