In an online event, Frederick University presented a detailed proposal regarding a study for the identification and the overall evaluation of the dangers that threaten the coastal and marine environment of Limassol.to the mayor of Limassol and the officials of the municipality.
This study will propose best practices, in order to reduce the risks that threaten the coastal and marine environment of Limassol, to preserve the viability of the major coastal front of Limassol and at the same time to strengthen the development of the Blue Economy.
The research will involve academics and experts from Cyprus and abroad and will include, as collaborators – researchers, members of the Cyprus Maritime Foundation (CyFoS).
The whole effort demonstrates in practice the response of the municipality of Limassol to the concerns of the residents, around the modern environmental problems of the Limassol sea front, as they were recorded in the recent public opinion poll conducted during the Blue Limassol Forum.
The mayor, Nicos Nikolaides, thanked Frederick University for the very constructive cooperation and congratulated Dr Angelos Menelaou, head of the Department of Shipping and Trade of the University, and his associates for the submission of a very high quality and necessary scientific proposal. Finally, he expressed his satisfaction regarding the realisation of the Blue Limassol Forum, which is steadily moving forward with concrete actions and through the partnership of the academic, private, public sector contributes to the well-being of the people of Limassol.
