Home insulation and photovoltaics scheme to continue next year

The sponsorship plan for encouraging the use of renewable energy sources and energy saving in houses will continue in 2021, the energy ministry announced on Friday.

“The intention of the ministry is for the new plan to be announced retroactively, in a way that ensures the smooth continuation of the existing plan of 2020, for which the submission of applications ends on December 20, 2020,” the ministry stated.

The plan is financed by the Renewable Energy Sources Fund (RES) and the Energy Saving Fund (EXE) and covers thermal insulation works of roofs and ceilings or installation of photovoltaic systems with net-metering in homes, as well as a combination of the above.

The total budget of the project in 2020 amounted to €7.5 million and was expected to cover about 4,500 applications.

The budget for 2021 will be announced at a later stage.

According to Friday’s announcement, there may be changes both in the provisions of the plan and in the required application forms.
