The Green Party on Saturday called on the United Nations to take immediate action after the alleged illegal cutting of eucalyptus trees within the buffer zone.

“We condemn the illegal actions of the Turks inside the buffer zone in the area of Avlona-Denia, where they cut down eucalyptus trees,” the party said in a written announcement.

It is a crime against the environment and a “blatant violation of the neutral zone”, the party added.

They called on the competent authorities of the republic and the UN to “end the illegal actions”.
