Post-mortem inconclusive on man’s cause of death

A post-mortem on a 42-year-old whose family claimed there was negligence on the part of Larnaca general hospital doctors was inconclusive as regards the cause of death, police said Wednesday.

Police said the procedure was carried out by three pathologists, two for the state and one representing the family, but it failed to identify the cause of the man’s death.

Tissue and other samples were collected for further testing.

The 42-year-old’s family reported the case to police on Tuesday, claiming there was negligence by doctors.

The man was rushed to Larnaca hospital A&E with severe pain to his abdomen and doctors decided to operate following an examination.

During the operation, the man suffered a heart attack and eventually died at around noon.

Reports said the man had undergone an operation at a private facility in Nicosia two weeks ago.
