Teen hunter arrested, driving illegally

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday in the Famagusta district after being caught driving a car, police said.

Both he and another 15-year-old who was a passenger in the same car, were fined for not wearing masks.

According to the police, the car was stopped by officers in an area in the Famagusta district at around 2.50pm. It emerged the driver was a 15-year-old boy and had as passenger another teen the same age.

During a search, officers found in the car a hunting dog training machine, a 9cm knife, 60   full hunting gun cartridges and a device believed to mimic the voices of wild birds.

The teen driver was arrested and was taken to the Xylofagou police station where he was charged in the presence of his father and was released. He is to appear in court at a later stage.
