Seven Greek Cypriots living in Rizokarpaso in the north have tested positive for coronavirus prompting closure of the primary school for a week, presidential commissioner Fotis Fotiou said Saturday.
Fotiou said the school and an adjacent kindergarten, as well as the high school further away have been disinfected.
Initially, a teacher and a cleaner working at the primary school tested positive, Fotiou said.
Almost all the Greek Cypriots living in the area were tested and five more cases were detected, including a primary school pupil.
Most were contacts of the first two cases, he said.
Most found positive chose to travel to the government-controlled areas to self-isolate, he said.
Four other cases detected in Kormakitis in previous days also crossed over to the government-controlled areas.
