Seven people arrested for working illegally in Nicosia

Police arrested seven people late on Friday found working illegally in two different restaurants in Nicosia.

As part of the coordinated efforts to crack down on illegal and undeclared employment, police, immigration officers and the Nicosia labour service performed checks in three establishments.

Four people were arrested for working illegally in one Nicosia restaurant, of which two were students who were violating the terms of their residence permit, while the other two were found to be staying illegally in the Republic after their residence permit expired.

Another three, also students, were arrested in another restaurant, found to be violating the terms of their residence permit.

Police are also investigating the two business owners for illegal employment.
