Driving past curfew gets man caught with drugs

A 24-year-old was caught carrying crystal methamphetamine in Larnaca after the vehicle he was in was intercepted by officers for driving past curfew, police said on Sunday.

Travel around in Larnaca is not permitted after 11pm so when officers patrolling the streets saw a car at around 1am, the driver, a 33-year-old man was asked to pull over.

The passenger, a 24-year-old appeared to have raised suspicion as police said, he was searched and was found to carry crystal methamphetamine and was arrested on the spot.

Both men were taken to the Larnaca drug squad offices. The 24-year-old admitted to possessing the drugs and was released until drug test results are ready.

Both men were fined for being outside past curfew without permission.
