Coronavirus: sports and social activities for under 18s suspended

Sports and social activities for children are suspended unless taught privately one-on-one,  the health ministry said on Monday.

As part of new coronavirus measures in force from Monday, the operation of dance studios, swimming pools, as well as theatre, art classes and other social activities are suspended until December 13.

In an announcement, the ministry reminded the new measures include the participation of children under 18 in group sports, swimming, martial arts, dance, theatre, art lessons and group lessons of musical instruments or choir.

Those activities are suspended, unless taught privately, one-on-one.

“Activities can be carried out in cases where the training or practice is done individually with only the child and the instructor, in compliance with all the measures and guidelines that apply in each case,” the ministry said.

Further instructions will be issued for sports by the Cyprus sports organisation.
