Driver stopped more than six times over the limit

Drunk Driver In Car

A man who was driving while more than six times over the legal alcohol limit will have to stand trial while his driving licence was revoked until the end of the trial, the Famagusta court ruled on Friday.

As part of checks for curfew violations, police stopped the 44-year-old driver near Avgorou at 10pm on Thursday.

He was arrested when a breathalyser test read 143μg, while the permitted limit is 22μg.

The court set the trial for December 21 and revoked his licence before he was released, while he was also booked for being out of doors after the 9pm curfew.
