Government employment up by 300 in November

Total government employment increased by 300 people or 0.6 per cent in November compared to the corresponding month in 2019, reaching 52,804 people, the Statistical Service announced on Friday.

Permanent staff decreased by 955 (3.4 per cent), from 27,871 to 26,916, while casual staff increased by 1,379 (8.6 per cent) and reached 17,458 compared to 16,079 in November 2019.

Compared to November 2019 an increase was seen in education staff (3.3 per cent) and in civil service staff (0.5 per cent) while a decrease was seen in security forces staff (0.9 per cent).

Compared to October 2020, an increase was seen in education staff (2.4 per cent) and in civil service staff (0.2 per cent) while a decrease was observed in security forces staff (0.5 per cent).
