Ministry of education approves upgrades for Paphos

The Ministry of Education has approved and released funds to upgrade a number of Paphos schools and renovate a building to house the school board, according to the local municipality.

The authority recieved €150.000 to illumination of the 1st Primary School (Neophytou), as well as in the painting of the buildings of the 2nd Primary School (Demetrios), the 1st Primary School (Neophytou), the former Nikolaidios Gymnasium and the Lyceum of the 1st Ethnarch Makarios of the 3rd, the Municipality of Paphos announced.

The ministry also granted an additional amount of €130,000 for the renovation of a building that will permanently house the Paphos school board.

“With the amount allocated for the permanent accommodation of the school board, the building will be renovated by the municipality of Paphos, it is a Turkish Cypriot premises located in Markos Drakos Square (formerly Lozan Square),” a spokesman said.

“This arrangement is the proposal of the Mayor of Paphos Phedonas Phedonos to the minister, Prodromos Prodromou, in order to free up the four classrooms used by the school board for its residence at Agios Theodoros High School.”
