Coronavirus: More than 8,000 checks, 76 booked


Police have booked 75 individuals and one establishment while carrying out 8,011 checks to curb the spread of the coronavirus from Tuesday until Wednesday.

Most were fined for not wearing masks indoors and outdoors and for defying the overnight curfew.

The numbers in detail:

Nicosia: 2,097 checks, 17 individuals, one business booked

Limassol: 3,261 checks, 20 individuals booked

Larnaca: 637 checks, nine persons booked

Paphos: 1,1016 checks, 21 booked

Famagusta: 715 checks, eight booked

Morphou: 244 checks, none booked

Marine police: 44 checks, no bookings
