Coronavirus: Grocery shopping remains favourite for SMS permission

Once again, grocery shopping remains the most popular category for which people ask permission to leave their homes, according to the latest data.

In total 315,586 messages were sent on Wednesday to 8998 for permission to leave the house, 311,400 of which were approved, said the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.

As was the case every day since the resumption of the SMS service on Sunday, most text messages concerned category 2 or grocery shopping for which 124,653 requests have been approved, followed by category 8, that concerns any other reason that can be justified on the basis of the restrictions, with 61,919 approvals.

Exercising came a close third, with 59,752 approved requests, followed by category 1, permission to go out to a pharmacy or for blood donation, for a doctor visit or Covid test or vaccination for which 31,122 permissions were given.
