Melco, operator of Cyprus Casinos (C2) and the upcoming integrated resort City of Dreams Mediterranean, the only licensed casinos in Cyprus, supported vulnerable groups over the festive period, demonstrating commitment to give back to the local community.

Around 200 Melco volunteers took part in activities helping young people over the Christmas holidays, benefiting nearly 300 local children. Initiatives included donation of electronic equipment and supplies to Apostolos Loukas Special School. Melco also embraced the ‘No Child Without a Present This Year’ campaign in cooperation with Efimerida Lemesos and various other local stakeholders. Company employees actively engaged in the initiative by sharing toys, clothes and electronics. Additionally, Melco collaborated with several schools in the Zakaki area to ensure all students received gifts.

“The people of Zakaki are grateful to Melco and its employees for their kindness to the children of our community,” noted Zakaki community president, Andreas Demetriades. “The generously-donated Christmas gifts were distributed to families with children of all ages, giving them great joy and hope amidst these challenging times. The community appreciates Melco’s continued and faithful support.”

For his part, City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos property general manager Grant Johnson, stated: “Melco is a committed partner of Cyprus’ local society and we aim to create positive impact on all levels. We pride ourselves in being responsible corporate citizens and, as such, remain dedicated to investing in the development of the Cyprus economy, while actively supporting local communities.

“The same values inspire our colleagues to volunteer their time to good causes, and we are very proud of their high level of engagement in CSR activities, especially since Melco is one of the country’s largest employers.”

To engage and reunite colleagues over the festive season, the Melco Human Resources department designed and implemented a series of activities, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for employees who have been kept apart due to COVID-19-related social distancing measures.

Over 300 Cyprus Casinos employees gathered to enjoy the first-ever “C2 Vision Talent Show” over two evenings. Furthermore, leveraging the power of social media, the #C2inChristmasMood Instagram Challenge was introduced and enthusiastically embraced by the C2 team, sparking boundless creativity.
