For the fourth consecutive year, Lidl Cyprus has been named ‘Top Employer’ in Cyprus and Europe by the internationally-recognised Top Employers Institute. The award recognises Lidl Cyprus for the support it offers its employees, its salaries and benefits, its corporate culture and the training and development opportunities it provides to its people.

Companies that receive the ‘Top Employer’ certification seek to put their employees at the centre of their business activities, as well as provide them with an exemplary working environment. This year, the Top Employers Institute identified and awarded over 1,600 top employers from 120 countries and territories across five continents.

“2020 was a different year, particularly demanding for all of us,” observed Lidl Cyprus General Manager Spyros Kondylis. “All our employees, in our stores, in our logistics centres and in our offices, had to adapt to the new conditions – each team in a different way. And we did it. We ensured a safe, healthy working environment, maintained our work positions and salaries, and rewarded our over-620 employees with additional benefits amounting to €600,000.

“All of this, together with the continuous improvement in personnel issues that the Human Resources team ensures, are what secured us such an important recognition for yet another year.”

For his part, Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink acknowledged that: “2020 will go down in history as the year with the biggest challenges for business.

“In this context, Lidl Cyprus can be particularly proud of the Top Employer 2021 award. It is a brilliant proof that Lidl Cyprus places the well-being of its employees at the top of its priorities.”

This year, as every year, Lidl Cyprus, will invest over €170,000 in employee training and development, and over €150,000 in welfare programmes and initiatives for its people.

Guided by its personnel, its goal is to further shape a safe and optimistic work environment, to ensure equal opportunities for development and growth and to recognise performance using merit-based criteria.

Lidl Cyprus is also planning new hires in a variety of positions at its stores, logistics centres and offices, further strengthening its presence in the Greek retail market, and aiming to remain the employer of choice.
