Managing risk amid crises and disruption

Poster

The words ‘risk’ and ‘crisis’ sound all too familiar now, even to non-business or finance people. An upcoming online event by Hellenic Bank in association with Global Training and the University of Nicosia will look at risk management during crises. On February 18 Paul Shotton and Eleni Neocleous will discuss the challenges and disruptions faced by the finance industry amid and post the coronavirus pandemic, and the challenges faced by Risk Management professionals in these profoundly uncertain times.

Paul is the founder of White Diamond Risk Advisory, a company that provides bespoke financial risk advisory services to boards of directors and executive management in the financial services sector, based in New York. He will join Eleni Neocleous, a board member at KPMG’s Financial Risk Management department, to analyse our way back to normality and changes in risk management practices as a consequence of the pandemic.

During this free online discussion Paul will highlight the distinct differences between the 2008 financial crisis and the coronavirus crisis and alert viewers of any black swan events to look out for, in the coming 12 to 24 months. He will discuss policymakers’ reaction to the pandemic and the role of central banks around the world. Finally, he will touch on the role of women in finance and the issue of diversity in general. To join the conversation, register via www.ideas.unic.ac.cy and tune in at 4pm. Where? On Zoom, of course.
