Beer consumption down almost half in January

Total beer sales in Cyprus plunged by 45.8 per cent, equivalent to 757,151 litres, in January 2021 compared with the same period last year due to restrictive measures in place to tackle the spread of the coronavirus.

Total beer deliveries from factories decreased to 981,592 litres compared with 1,738,743 litres delivered last January, a 43.5 per cent dip.

However, despite the decrease in sales, beer exports increased in January 2021 if compared to the same month in 2020, according to data collected by the statistical service.

The total exported was 56,165 litres compared with 31,812 in January last year.
