Cyprus problem, bilateral relations, east Med on agenda of president’s Israel visit

President Nicos Anastasiades will hold meetings on Sunday in Israel, during which he will discuss, among others, issues related to the Cyprus problem, bilateral relations and cooperation between Cyprus and Israel, and the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Government Spokesman, Kyriakos Koushos, said in a written statement on Friday, that President Anastasiades will fly to Israel on Sunday, February 14, for a one-day working visit where he will have meetings with the country`s political leadership.

On Sunday morning the President will meet with the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin, while at 1800 he will have a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Koushos noted that “during his meetings the President of the Republic will discuss issues related, among others, with the developments in the Cyprus problem, bilateral relations, the current situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the cooperation between Cyprus – Israel, aiming at peace and stability in the region, efforts to address the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as issues regarding the fields of Defence, Energy and Tourism.”

The President of the Republic will be accompanied by Foreign Minister, Nikos Christodoulides, Defence Minister, Charalambos Petrides, the Government Spokesman, and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Savvas Perdios.

Christodoulides, Petrides and Perdios will have, on the sidelines of the visit, separate meetings with their Israeli counterparts.
