Coronavirus: Less checks, more individuals booked

During 24 hours from Thursday until Friday police carried out less checks for violations of coronavirus protocols but booked more people than the day before.

In total, 8,186 checks were carried out, while the number was 9,483 a day earlier.

127 individuals were booked, 25 more than the day before.

As during the 24 hours from Wednesday until Thursday, most offenders were caught in Limassol.

Of the 8,186 checks, 1,377 were conducted in Nicosia, 1,506 in Limassol, 1,365 in Larnaca, 1,242 in Paphos, 1,470 in Famagusta and 712 in the Morphou area.

Traffic police also took part in the campaign to curb the spread of the virus, with 457 checks, while the rapid response unit checked five persons and marine police 52.

In Limassol, 47 individuals were fined, in Nicosia 15, in Paphos 24, in Larnaca 23 and in Famagusta 18.
