Coronavirus: Technical issues at vaccination portal resolved (updated)

Technical problems at the vaccination portal have been resolved and it is operating smoothly, the deputy ministry for research, innovation and digital policy said in a new announcement on Wednesday, hours after  the portal opened for people aged 69 and over.

“The deputy ministry expresses its sincere apologies to the public for the inconvenience,” it said.

Earlier on Wednesday, the deputy ministry had issued a statement to say that the vaccination portal was experiencing ‘some technical issues’, because of the increased volumes of applications to book an appointment for a coronavirus vaccine.

“The deputy ministry is working intensively, in cooperation with all involved agencies and service providers for the immediate resolution of the problems and is asking the public to show patience and understanding,” it said and apologised for the inconvenience.

A total of 17,496 vaccination slots were made available on the vaccination portal at 9 am on Wednesday for people aged 69 and above.

But CyBC reported receiving numerous complaints as people trying to book a slot found themselves unable to access the portal. Others however sent in messages to say they had been successful.
