Coronavirus: 199 booked for breaking decrees

ÊÏÑÙÍÏÚÏÓ ÌÅÔÑÁ ÁÐÁÃÏÑÅÕÓÇ ÊÕÊËÏÖÏÑÉÁÓ ÅËÅÃ×ÏÓ

Police fined 199 individuals and two business owners for breaching coronavirus protocols in 24 hours from Sunday until Monday morning.

Most were booked for not wearing protective masks and leaving their homes without the required SMS permission.

A total of 48 people were fined in Nicosia, 76 in Limassol, 29 in Larnaca, 23 in Paphos, 14 in Famagusta and three in Morphou.

One of the 76 booked in Limassol one was a café owner serving customers.

In total, 12,694 checks were carried out, 2,905 in Nicosia, 1,950 in Limassol, 2,102 in Larnaca, 1,392 in Paphos, 1,723 in Famagusta and 1,262 in the Morphou district.

Traffic police conducted an additional 1,192 inspections and issued eight fines.

No offences were reported by marine police, which checked 168 persons.
