Programmable bacteria: nature’s most powerful tool

Bacteria are found nearly everywhere on the earth. In the soil, in the water, in hot springs, in radioactive waste, in our bodies… even deep within the earth’s crust.

There are currently 30,000 named bacteria species and they were among the earliest life forms to exist, shaping our world in more ways than we realise.

Yet, when most of us think of bacteria, we think only of dangerous pathogens, even though this applies to only a minority of bacteria species.. while the traits of many others make them highly beneficial to us.

In this video, we learn about the profound role that Nature has cast bacteria to play, and how today’s scientists are re-programming bacteria’s inherent biology to serve our needs at an even greater level.
