A Homerian challenge: Odysseus’ bow versus its modern, state-of-the-art equivalent

Everyone knows Homer’s thrilling conclusion to the Odyssey… the wandering Greek hero finally returns to his kingdom of Ithaca, where he slays the wicked suitors plaguing his queen, Penelope, after successfully meeting the challenge she had set them: stringing his legendary bow, and shooting an arrow through a line of 12 axe heads.

In this video,  we watch as the mythological feat inspires a modern-day challenge: can a horn-and-sinew bow built to ancient Greek standards, outperform a state-of-the-art bow equipped with a scope lens?
