Coronavirus: Police book 189 individuals, most for not sending SMS

Police booked 183 individuals and six business owners in the last 24 hours for breaking Covid diktats.

Two establishments in Nicosia and three in the Famagusta area were booked for indoor dining, and a barber shop in Limassol for failing to disinfect the premises. Over 12,000 checks were carried out.

In Nicosia 51 individuals were fined, in Limassol 75, Larnaca 21, Paphos 13, Famagusta 12 and Morphou area three.

The vast majority of the bookings concerned people being out without sending an SMS, 39 for not wearing a mask and eight for breaking curfew.
