A life full of arias comes to the stage

eleni hadjiafxendi (unknown performance)

A different kind of event is coming to Larnaca, filled with stories of operatic frenzy. A Life Full of Arias with actress and soprano Elena Hadjiafxendi will be an evening of music, storytelling and song.

On April 14, at Larnaca’s G. Lycourgos Municipal Theatre, a prima donna will narrate tragicomical stories from her life about the arias she sang, studying how to strike the right notes, her crowns and her love affairs.

Through this musical performance which is part of the Larnaca Festival of Classical Music, audiences will embark on a journey that brings together classical opera, Latin American music and European dances. Tragic heroines from the work of Giacomo Puccini, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and other great composers meet other female characters from Greek and Viennese operetta, songs from the Belle époque (Greek light song from the 1920s and 1930s) as well as jittery and/or mournful personalities from the musical world of Kurt Weill and Astor Piazzolla.

The prima donna will be accompanied on her musical and theatrical journey by other performers who subvert her expectations and confirms her doubts with his acting, singing and dancing. Joining Elena Hadjiafxendi on stage will be actor Thanassis Ioannou, Andreas Papapetrou on piano, accordion and orchestration, Nikos Pittas on violin, Marios Nicolaou on percussion and Nicos Ioannou on double bass, playing together to bring this operatic tale to life.
