Coronavirus: Almost 200 people booked for violating measures

A total of 195 citizens and four businesses were booked for violating Covid-19 measures in the past 24 hours, police announced on Sunday.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, between 6am on Saturday and 6am on Sunday, there were a total of 9,559 inspections, of which 2,294 were carried out in Nicosia resulting in 43 citizens being booked, along with a bar manager for allowing customers to dance in the premises.

Dancing at a bar also got another two businesses booked along with 12 citizens in Famagusta after a total of 1,380 inspections were carried out.

In Limassol, there were 2,143 checks and 76 people booked while 1,172 checks were carried out in Larnaca with 22 people booked as well as church staffers for allowing more people than those permitted.

Paphos had 982 checks resulting in 30 individuals being booked while in Morphou there were 915 checks with one person booked.

Traffic police carried out a further 673 inspections with 11 citizens booked while the marine police did 95 inspections without any bookings.
