Police seize 16.6 kilos of cannabis at Larnaca Airport, two arrests

Two women, aged 30 and 26, were arrested early Monday morning at Larnaca airport after police found more than 16 kilos of cannabis in their luggage.

Customs officials and members of the police drug and immigration squads seized 34 plastic-wrapped packages containing around 16.647 kilograms of cannabis, which were found in the two women’s luggage.

The suspects arrived at Larnaca airport from abroad and their bags were searched around 1.45 am, a written statement issued by police said.

They are expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court to be remanded in custody.

The case is under investigation by the Larnaca drug squad.
