Home and office best form of work, Career Expo poll finds

According to a poll conducted at the Cyprus Career Expo (CCE), an overwhelming 74.5 per cent say the ideal form of pandemic-free work is hybrid, combining work from home and from the office.

Some 50.7 per cent of employees say they would continue to work from home even after the pandemic, if given the chance.

The CCE, the largest career and employment exhibition in Cyprus for three years, took place online this month.

Under the CCE, prospective employees and students were given the opportunity to get in touch with employers, learn about existing employment opportunities, participate in on-site interviews and attend interesting presentations by HR managers and company executives.

Ninety-seven employers from Cyprus and abroad and several hundred visitors participated in this year’s exhibition.

In the relevant poll, 45.3 per cent of participants said that the most important factors for choosing a job are colleagues and a friendly environment, 42,3 per cent chose the flexibility between personal – work life and only 12.4 per cent said an important factor is a satisfactory salary.

They also answered what makes a manager successful is leadership skills (38.1 per cent), coordination skills and ability to remain committed (36 per cent) and the level of empathy (25.9 per cent.)

They said in the process of finding a job, what is most difficult for them is the lack of jobs (42.6 per cent), the phase of negotiating their working conditions (25.4 per cent), the application process (24.6 per cent) and to a lesser extent updating the contents of their CV (7.4 per cent).

This year the Cyprus Career Expo was co-organised by the University of Nicosia, the online platform ergodotisi.com and Boussias Cyprus, and supported by the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Services, the Federation of Employers and Industrialists, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cyprus Investment Promotion Organisation (Invest Cyprus) and the Cyprus Association of Human Resources Management.
