One pre-teen’s difficult year of Covid-driven e-schooling

With Covid-19 having disrupted just about every aspect of life during 2020, including school, here’s how one Canadian 12-year-old has weathered a year of e-learning.

“It’s been a tough year, I can’t just go to school and see my friends any more. I rarely get to see them and I get lonely,” says Ally Harris of Kelowna, British Columbia, admitting that she had sometimes fallen behind in her schoolwork over the past 12 months.

The asthma sufferer also reveals that her Zoom classes have often included kids and teachers that she did not know, which has made missing her friends even harder – though she has made new pals, too.

All in all, nothing can really take the place of being in the same classroom physically with her teachers and her schoolmates, says Ally.
