The vaccination portal for those aged 64-70 will open on Friday from 8pm and will be available for 24 hours.

The ministry of health announced on Friday that it was decided to reopen the portal from 8pm Friday until 8pm Saturday for the aforementioned ages aiming to offer those who had not booked an appointment the first time, to do so. The target is to speed up the vaccination of the population.

We encourage people of the age group 64-70 to book an appointment and get their jab thus protecting themselves against Covid-19, the possibility of getting seriously ill and needing hospitalisation,  the ministry said.

For the ages 37 and 38 the portal will re-open on Tuesday, May 4 from 7:30am until 8pm.

The portal will only be open during the above dates and times and only for the aforementioned ages.

Meanwhile, Cyprus is accelerating the pace of vaccination coverage and has already surpassed 200,000 vaccinations with the first dose.

Citing figures by the ECDC, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the ministry of health said that until Thursday, a total of 278,770 injections had been given (31.7 doses per 100 citizens).

A total of 209,285 citizens had been given a first jab, i.e. 27.9 per cent, a percentage higher that the EU total which stands at 27.2 per cent.

Additionally, 69,485 people received both doses, ie 9.5 per cent. The EU percentage is 10.1 per cent.
