Frames of petals: touring the A.G. Leventis Gallery’s flower paintings

Fitting for late spring, and with nature’s resurgence well under way, in this video, A. G. Leventis Gallery’s Paris Collection curator Myrto Hatzaki, offers us a tour of the art museum’s flower paintings.

From a 17th-century still life by Flemish Baroque artist Philips de Marlier, to a riot of expressionistic colour by 20th-century, self-taught French artist Gen Paul, the blooms convey a sense of the cultural moment in which they were painted, while transmitting the power of their original inspirations.
