Coronavirus: 208 booked, more than 10,000 checks carried out

Police booked a total of 208 people for breaching coronavirus protocols in 24 hours leading up to 6am on Tuesday.

Most were fined for neglecting to send an SMS requesting permission to move around and for not wearing protective face masks.

According to a police announcement, 10,714 checks were conducted, 1,671 in Nicosia, 3,901 in Limassol, 1,467 in Larnaca, 1,250 in Paphos, 1,095 in Famagusta and 670 in Morphou.

38 individuals were booked in Nicosia, 76 in Limassol, 30 in Larnaca, 22 in Paphos, 22 in Famagusta and three in the Morphou district.

Traffic police conducted 660 checks and booked 17 persons as a result.
