Coronavirus: Bar fined €3000 for allowing customers to dance

ΛΕΜΕΣΟΣ – ΛΗΣΤΕΙΑ ΥΠΑΛΛΗΛΟΥ ΕΤΑΙΡΕΙΑΣ

A bar owner in Kato Paphos was fined €3,000 for allowing customers to dance at his establishment, police said on Tuesday.

The business was fined after 1,051 police checks in Paphos in the last 24 hours.

Eight people were also fined for breaching coronavirus protocols in the district. Another eight were fined in Larnaca after 564 checks. In Nicosia, two people were fined after 1,337 checks. Famagusta police fined one person after 588 checks.

Another other two violations were reported by the traffic police.

No violations were reported in Limassol or Morphou for the second day in a row after 728 and 441 checks respectively.

Port and marine police also carried out 43 checks without any bookings.

As of May 10, bars and pubs are allowed to serve seated customers outdoors, abiding to the midnight curfew.

Nightclubs are expected to reopen on June 10 according to a recent health ministry announcement.

In total, police checked 5,197 people and businesses and issued 25 fines.
