FM heading to Luxembourg for EU foreign ministers council

Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides, departs Sunday for Luxembourg where he is due to attend the meeting the EU Foreign Affairs Council ahead of the main summit in Brussels late in the week.

According to the foreign ministry, in the course of the Council’s deliberations, the EU ministers will discuss EU-Turkey relations, Lebanon and Indonesia.

They are also expected to exchange views on the latest developments in EU – Russia relations, the Middle East, the situation in Ethiopia and Mali, as well as the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

The Council will review the situation in Iraq and the EU’s relations with the country, after which the ministers are expected to attend a working luncheon with their Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein.

Belarus is also on the agenda as is EU relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, assessing the possibilities for more effective action and engagement on the part of the EU in the region.
