Larnaca police said on Saturday they arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of attacking three men with a knife in the Makenzie area.

Two men, 33 and 38, were walking back to their car parked in Makenzie at around 3.30am on Saturday when they were allegedly attacked by an unknown person holding a pocketknife.

Police said a third person, another 33-year-old man, saw the incident and intervened. He managed to take the knife from the attacker but suffered mild injuries to his leg. He handed over the knife to the police.

The three were transferred to Larnaca general hospital where they were kept for observation for their mild injuries.

Later in the day, police arrested a 21-year-old man who matches the description of the suspect after he visited the Famagusta hospital in Paralimni for certain injuries. The man was initially arrested for assaulting officers at the hospital.

Police collected evidence from the crime scene and continue to gather statements from witnesses.
