A batch of 10 Chinese-made eco-friendly electric buses arrived in Qatar on Tuesday, with the Chinese Ambassador to Qatar Zhou Jian and Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti inaugurating the pilot operation of electric bus charging stations in Doha the same day.

Qatar has struck a deal with China’s Yutong, one of the world’s leading bus makers, to manufacture buses for the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022. The company will provide 1,002 vehicles for the tournament, including 741 electric vehicles.

The arrival of the buses boosts Qatar’s electric vehicle strategy, as the country is making progress toward a greener future.
