The sushi made for only a few to treasure

Ready for a bite of a most decadent and eye-wateringly expensive morsel?

This video serves up some seriously luxe bites prepared by Filipino chef Angelito Araneta Jr. – creator of the world’s most pricey sushi, and nicknamed the ‘karat chef’.

Ordinarily, sushi is a traditional Japanese dish of prepared vinegared rice, accompanying a variety of ingredients, such as raw seafood and vegetables.

But in his premium version of the Japanese delicacy, the culinary maestro added edible gold, diamonds and pearls, in a dish that garnered him a Guinness World Records entry when he was only 22 years old.

It may seem over the top to some, but if you’ve got your heart set on sampling the be-jewelled nigiri rolls, then prepare to go lavish: a five-piece plate will set you back over $2,300.
