Mending our clothes: to darn or to patch?

With sustainability the keyword of our age, we all know by now that we should try to make our clothes last as long as possible, keeping them out of the landfill while committing to a less resource-dependent lifestyle.

But that doesn’t automatically endow us with the knowledge of how to mend our clothes correctly, when use and time lead to our garments fraying.

Fortunately, in this video, originally published in 2020, veteran dressmaker Evelyn Wood, explains the differences between patching and darning, and shares her four go-to strategies for tackling clothing wear and tear effectively.
