Cyprus Public Transport celebrates one year of operations, one year of a new transportation era!

It’s been a year since the first trip of Cyprus Public Transport and the public transportation sector in the island has already changed. A new bus era has begun, with significant changes at different levels and with the prospect of adding even more services and benefits for passengers.

With a new fleet of 300 buses, Cyprus Public Transport has upgraded passengers’ travel experience from the first moment. Air conditioning, ramps for people with disabilities, USB ports, the pilot service of free Wi-Fi on specific buses, the minimization of the environmental footprint with Euro VI buses are some of the company’s first implementations to better serve the public. The disinfection system, the automatic blinds, the CCTV systems in place, as well as the automatic speakers on board are also added to CPT’s innovations. One of the company’s highlights is the PAME App available to passengers.

The power of CPT is its people. The company provides its staff with a safe and friendly environment, equal opportunities and the possibility of continuing education. Any form of discrimination or intimidation, either on the part of customers or on the part of the employees themselves is not tolerated by the management.

From the beginning of its operations until today, Cyprus Public Transport has been providing uninterrupted services in the midst of a pandemic. The company is high in passenger ratings and according to the European Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), it has received high scores for cleanliness, increased frequency of trips, punctuality, safety and reliability.

In May 2021, the company opened its new commercial offices in the heart of the Old Town of Nicosia, taking another important step towards the modernization of bus services in Cyprus. The offices are used as an Information Center for customers, but they are also a multifunction facility for meetings and events. The management has also created a rest area for drivers in Solomos Square, so that they can rest during their break or between shifts.

LPT, the subsidiary company of CPT in Larnaca has reached a landmark agreement with all the guilds through which its employees are represented, on the renewal of the collective agreement. This long-term agreement will ensure stability and improvement of working conditions for the company’s staff.

Cyprus Public Transport’s next objective is to further support the efforts of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works in relation to one of its most important projects, the redesigning of the new Nicosia and Larnaca networks.
