A weekend of live Latin and reggae vibes

reggaae latin night

Oh, how we’ve missed the parties! Those summer nights dancing to loud music, sipping cocktails and bumping into people. Perhaps there will less bumping into people and more limited dancing these days but still, a few occasions are coming up to give us a sense of those carefree nights. In Nicosia and Deryneia, two street fiestas are arriving this weekend to dress the towns in Latin and reggae vibes.

On Friday, July 9, a Latin Night event will transform Phaneromenis Square in Nicosia into a little Havana with mojitos and street food flowing. Edon Nicosia-Kyrenia is organising the event with invited Cuban band Pedro-Son Caliente playing upbeat, funky live music from 7.30pm onwards. A cocktail bar and street food carts will be set up and entrance is free, though reservations are encouraged (99-187204).

The following day in Deryneia, a reggae party will take place at Heroes Street 5380, organised by the Amphitheatre bar and band Black Out. From 8pm onwards reggae sounds will blast from the decks as DJ Bkas will entertain party-goers whilst Black Out prepare for a live music programme. Tickets for the night costs €10 and can be purchased from numerous locations: The Amphitheatre bar & more in Deryneia, Stop & Shop kiosk in Paralimni, Chris Express kiosk in Protaras, Sacramento Restaurant in Ayia Napa, Donut Market in Larnaca, Ola DJ in Nicosia and 360 Geometry in Limassol.
