Paphos police arrested a 25-year-old man on Monday for verbally assaulting an officer and refusing to share his personal information.

The incident took place around 1pm on Monday at the coastal Posidonos Avenue in Kato Paphos when an officer spotted a group of young people allegedly causing a commotion.

When the policeman approached the group and asked them to quieten down, one of them started yelling, refusing to cooperate with the police and threatening the officer.

The officer arrested the man, who was allegedly resisting.

From later investigation, it emerged the suspect is from Greece and a permanent resident of Cyprus.
