Coronavirus: 28 individuals, five businesses booked

Police said on Friday they had issued fines to 28 individuals and five establishments in the past 24 hours for various violations of Covid health and safety measures.

The force said it carried out 3,779 checks across the Republic between 6am Thursday and 6am Friday.

The reports mainly involved people not wearing protective masks. Five concerned not having a SafePass.

Police said they reported three people and three establishments after 1,446 checks in Nicosia while a markedly lower number of checks in Limassol – 227 – yielded more offenders, nine. In Larnaca, officers carried out 753 checks and issued four fines, 323 in Paphos where two individuals and two establishments were reported, 741 in Famagusta with 10 bookings, and 62 in the Morphou area without any reports.
