A swinging summer night at To Hani

Uplifting swing melodies will sound in Paramytha village this weekend as a newly-formed band performs at a recently-opened venue worth visiting. The Workin’ Trio performance on August 7 will take place at To Hani, Cyprus’ first co-living venue that also aims to organise meaningful experiences, activities and events. In August, a series of live music events will take place.

Having already performed at several cultural venues on the island, this trio is made up of three acclaimed Cypriot musicians – Charis Ioannou, Christos Yerolatsitis and Marios Spyrou – and their music is inspired by uplifting swing grooves, at times blended with Gospel, New Orleans and Boogaloo rhythms. The Trio aims to dig up the lesser-known repertoire from the 40s, 50s & 60s as well as compose original tunes along the same lines. This Saturday they will bring their summery swing tunes to Paramytha’s old village inn that is now its newest venue.

“Join us to celebrate this special historic building that has 100+ years of history of bringing people together,” say the organisers. “We’ll be gathering in a large open-air space under the stars and immerse ourselves in vintage swing jazz grooves featuring the sounds of saxophone, organ and drums.”

Along with the live music that will begin at 8.30pm, To Hani will serve beers, wine, unique Cypriot-with-a-twist cocktails and some light platters and Cypriot tapas. “Join in for a refreshing summer evening under the stars that will be the first of many,” they add and indeed, more live music events will follow throughout the month.

August 15 will return to Greek and Cypriot sounds as a rembetiko band performs at the venue. Then on August 21, the final live music night at To Hani will feature the vibrant sounds of Latin America as local band Havana Noche takes the floor. Choose the music mood you like and enjoy live performances under the summer night sky at a venue that is destined to bring like-minded people together. Just don’t forget to book your place in advance. Leave the rest up to the musicians and the charm of the old inn.
